Safe Drive Stay Alive

26th November 2010

95 Academy students recently visited the Mk Dons Stadium to watch a ‘Safe Drive Stay Safe' Campaign which was organised by the Thames Valley Police and targeted at 16-18 year olds.
Safe Drive Stay Alive was an innovative theatre education project, exploring the circumstances and consequences of a road traffic collision. The show includes a film of a crash in the local area which has been specially prepared, with roads and hospitals familiar to local students. Members of all the emergency services described their experiences, including those who have suffered in a crash themselves, this was particularly emotional for many students.

The Safe Drive Stay Alive campaign reaches new and pre-drivers in an emotive and hard-hitting way, influencing behavior and attitude on the roads. As students left the stadium, everyone that was involved in the road show was waiting at the end of the hall, everyone left quietly as the campaign was very hard hitting. The aim of the campaign was to empower our students to make good decisions about their behaviour and heighten the awareness of the possible consequences of any decision.
