During November several AS psychology students attended a conference in London. The conference gave them an insight into the different branches of psychology. The many speakers included; Andy Barton (a sportsman), Tanya Byron (who starred in House of Tiny Terrors), Mike Cardwell, Sergio Della Sala, and Cara Flanagan (writer of psychology books). Speakers were very informative and the information and advice received should help students succeed in their A levels. Students learned of different jobs available within the field of psychology and speakers took questions relating to their own careers.
PowerPoint presentations kept the audience engaged as did the various case studies which were discussed. The day finished on a lighter note when some of the audience were hypnotised and partook in some humorous activities. Students found the conference useful in helping them decide which area of psychology they would like to pursue in the future. The day was both interesting and fun.
