Fashion trip to London

2nd November 2011

On our fashion trip to London, we went to ‘The Museum of Everything’ which is located in Selfridges in Oxford Street. It contains a range of repeat patterns, some of which were used as inspiration for the Clements Ribeiro Autumn/Winter 2011 collection (project 6). We also had the opportunity to see the garments from this collection. After having made sketches from the museum we went to Camden Town where we took photographs of garments that included current fashion trends and prints. E.g. birds repeated on a dress. Other animals such as cats, horses and fashion drawings of models were also seen as current and common prints on garments. I personally was very inspired by the repeat print of the horses, as it has influenced me to incorporate this idea into my current fashion trends page. Horses obviously play a major part when it comes to the ascot, so I thought it would link extremely well into my upcoming project of designing and making an ascot dress. Overall the trip was very enjoyable and an experience that was helpful in gaining a wider understanding of how fashion and art can be similar and used together.
