Why choose Studio 6?Studio 6 staff and students acknowledge that in sixth form there is a range of students of different ability and maturity. They feel that the majority of students will relish in the Studio 6 environment and be independent, confident and successful young adults; however some students will need the support of a sanction policy to help them onto the right pathway.
Behaviour Sanctions
Level 1 - Informal Verbal Warning (Staff will remind the student of the key baselines).
Level 2 - A second Verbal Warning. Students will receive a sanction that is appropriate. This will be decided by the individual member of staff. This is likely to be ‘restorative' e.g. tidying areas of the school or e.g. spending a couple of hours supporting the member of staff in lessons with lower school. This will be recorded (e-mail to personal tutor, Studio 6 Administrator and Head of Studio 6) and teacher will call home to inform parents at this early stage to encourage further parental involvement and the studio 6 administrator will send a letter.
Level 3 - Students who get to Level 2 on three different occasions will be required to have a formal meeting with the Head of Studio 6 and their personal tutor. They will receive a formal contract which will serve as a final opportunity to change behaviour.
Level 4 - Students who break this contract will be saying through their behaviour that they are not suitable for study at Milton Keynes Academy.
Academic Sanctions
Level 1 - Informal Verbal Warning (Staff will remind the student of the key baselines).
Level 2 - A second Verbal Warning and attendance to ‘Work Catch up Club'. The date and time of attendance to this club will be decided by the teacher. This will be recorded (e-mail to personal tutor, Studio 6 Administrator and Head of Studio 6) and teacher will call home to inform parents at this early stage to encourage further parental involvement and the studio 6 administrator will send a letter.
Level 3 - If this negative pathway continues the teacher will be left with no choice but to require the student's attendance at a ‘Work Day with the Teacher'. This will be organised by the subject teacher (in partnership with the Head of Subject) and the student will spend their study periods with that teacher catching up/further improving their work, this may be while the teacher is teaching KS3 or KS4.
If a student gets to level 3 on two occasions with the same subject or on one occasion with two different subjects there will be a formal meeting with the Head of Studio 6 and their Personal Tutor. They will receive a formal contract which will serve as a final opportunity to change behaviour.
Level 4 - Students who break this contract will be saying through their behaviour that they are not suitable for study at Milton Keynes Academy.
