Choices & About Exams

You have a choice of different types of qualifications all covering different subjects.

BTECs

These are work-related qualifications that provide you with the skills that employers need and also give theoption to progress to university. They provide a practical real-world approach to learning alongside classroom teaching. You should work at a level best for your ability.

Diplomas

Diplomas are a new qualification for students aged 14-19 in England combining traditional academic lessons with practical work-based activities. You can include an additional A-level or BTEC course as part of your Diploma, or take them as separate subjects alongside the Diploma. The Foundation Diploma is equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grades D-G, The Higher Diploma is equivalent to 7 GCSEs at grades A*-C, the Advanced Diploma is equivalent to 2.5-3.5 A-levels.
