The Milton Keynes Academy is a co-educational, non-selective secondary school for students aged 11-18. We are a member of the Creative Education Trust, a charity and multi-academy trust with a network of non-selective primary and secondary state schools. Together, we work to empower young people with the knowledge, skills and creativity they need to succeed in school and in life.

Our proactive approach to developing positive outcomes for our students has been recognised by Ofsted, who confirmed once again in November 2017 that we are a good school. We believe that our academy exists for its children and for our community. Our ethos of high expectations emphasises traditional core values of good behaviour, honesty and mutual respect.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced supporting students to achieve in both academic and vocational qualifications. Teachers are committed, talented and passionate about delivering an engaging education. The school day starts at 8:45am and formal lessons end at 3:00pm. Beyond the classroom, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

The Milton Keynes Academy is architecturally inspiring, boasting truly outstanding facilities and cutting edge resources. In 2018, a significant financial investment has provided a spacious restaurant, a further suite of science laboratories and a gym.

    The Milton Keynes Academy are currently seeking a talented and engaging Teacher of English to join our team. The successful applicant will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), have a proven track record of successful teaching across different key stages and believe that all pupils will succeed in their study of English. This post is suitable for an experienced teacher looking for an exciting, fresh opportunity or a newly qualified teacher looking for their first teaching role.

    The Milton Keynes Academy is an Academy with strong links in the community. Our Academy is underpinned by an ethos based on raising aspirations and raising achievement, so that we realise our mission of providing opportunities for everyone. We are relentless in our pursuit of high standards and excellence and emphasise traditional core values of good behaviour, honesty and mutual respect.

    We are a vibrant Academy (Ofsted judgement Good November 2017) with outstanding facilities. We cater for 1400 pupils aged 11-19 and welcome pupils of all abilities. We are a member of the Creative Education Trust (CET), which marks a new phase on our journey and will further strengthen the Academy on our pursuit to Outstanding.     The English department is housed in the Discover Village where all classrooms have an Interactive White Board, desktop computer and a visualiser enabling you to deliver engaging lessons. Outside of the classrooms we have a computer suite that can also be utilised. The working environment is excellent and innovative in design with very well-resourced work areas. Student success and displays of work are prominent. Furthermore, you will benefit from a highly organised curriculum plan where all lessons are planned and stored on the Academy's online curriculum.

    You will be joining an English department that has a proven track record of students making good progress in line or above the national average. We are really pleased with the excellent progress our disadvantage learners make. You will be stepping into a department of twelve teachers with a range of skills and abilities, managed by a Director of English who is supported by two Key Stage Co-ordinators and a Curriculum Assistant.
