World Cup food at the Academy

Catering staff at The Milton Keynes Academy have really scored a winner by devising World Cup themed lunch menus.

Every day, lucky students get to choose tasty dishes from countries whose football teams are playing.

Delicacies kicked off with fish and chips v hotdogs to represent the England v USA match, and have included pasta carbonara from Italy, kedjenou from the Ivory Coast, paella from Spain and Mexican beef and tortillas.

Year 7 student Shannon Hatter said: "We've loving the World Cup lunches because we've been able to try out all sorts of different food we have never tasted before. It's all been really tasty."

Catering manager Pauline Whitfield added: "It's been a lot of fun and has sparked interest in the variety of food eaten all over the world. We prepare all food here from scratch every day so have the flexibility to cook different and unusual dishes."

The Academy's library staff have also been getting into the World Cup spirit by creating a colourful display of books about football and the competition's participating nations.
