Training our Student Ambassadors

Our team of Ambassadors provide lots of valuable advice and support to students in all year groups.

The Studio 6 Ambassador team has been training hard to improve their skills and recently attended a Milton Keynes Safeguarding Children's Board course at the George Amey Centre in Simpson.

Connexions Personal Adviser Cath Davies said: "We have been offering the Ambassadors peer mentoring training which is all about building trusting relationships with young people, looking at the issues they face and how to offer support. The training has been very useful and we had lots of positive feedback from the Ambassadors."

At the latest session the Ambassadors were given training about child protection, so they now have knowledge of what to do if they believe a student is being abused or is at risk.

Cath added: "We all have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, and this is the message we wanted to get across."

Comments from students included: "‘I have learnt so many things about child protection and how to work with children" and ‘I learned about the different types of abuse and what we have to do to help.'

Head of Studio 6 Miss Forster added: "The Ambassadors play a really important role in the Academy and we do all we can to support them. They have volunteered for the role because they understand the problems and concerns of younger students."

The Ambassadors are: Corlton Soe-Loek-Mooi, Zuhura Ibrahim, Yasmin Farah, Giovanna Laryea, Lewis Maguire, Tenita Williams, Luke Chapman, Mohammed Dawood, Natalie Bramall, Tafara Khumbula, Roxanne Flaherty, Evangeline Kunaka, Kimsley Avery-Hawkins and Damon Bateman.
