It hasn't even opened yet but The Milton Keynes Academy is already proving to be among the most popular in the UK!
Pupils from 17 different primary schools have applied for a place there - making it almost 50% oversubscribed for students due to enrol in September.
In addition, an incredible 97 per cent of successful applicants selected the Academy as their ‘first' choice secondary school - ranking it among the most popular of the 123 new academies introduced by the Government since 2002.
"We are absolutely elated by our popularity and success so far," said Principal Lorna Caldicott.
"We were certainly expecting a good response from the local community but this is way beyond our expectations. For the Academy to be the first choice school by such a high percentage of applicants shows the confidence parents have that we will provide the best education for their children.
"Parents and pupils are genuinely excited about our new broader curriculum and the different opportunities we will provide for learning which demonstrate that there are many paths to success. We have a high calibre team of teachers and staff on board and very high aspirations for all. We have been working with our sponsor Edge to promote practical ‘learning by doing' and this has been warmly welcomed by everyone." She added: "Obviously our fantastic brand new state of the art £27m building and its brilliant high tech facilities are also very appealing."
The Milton Keynes Academy is due to open at Leadenhall in September. It will hold 1,500 pupils and replace the current Sir Frank Markham Community School which will be demolished.
All students already at the school will automatically transfer across to the new building. The school has six feeder schools including Falconhurst, Langland, Meadfurlong, Simpson, Orchard and New Chapter.
