Glenn Miller played and the Union Jack bunting fluttered as time rolled back to the 1940s at the Academy this week.
Senior citizens living near the Academy were invited to a special tea dance - organised by a group of hard-working students.
The school hall was transformed into a magnificent dance room, and the afternoon event featured a magnificent 40s themed buffet, complete with bread dipped in condensed milk.
The event was organised by a group of Studio 6 students taking the Creative and Media Diploma Level 3, who had been challenged to stage an event to benefit people in the local community.
Student and project manager Ayan Yusuf said: "After a lot of discussion we went for the idea of having a tea dance for older people. We did lots of research finding out what sort of food, music and decorations would be appropriate for war-time 1940s, and even got poppies from the British Legion. We also worked with a lady who lives in Fulwell Drive and went along to talk to people at Age UK's Peartree Bridge Centre and the housing centre in Eaglestone. The event went very well and we were very pleased that everyone seemed to have a really good time."
