Smart Students in the fast lane

Posted: 9th May 2012

Students arriving at the Academy in full uniform were rewarded with the chance to have their photograph taken in a brand new Audi convertible.

Many students were judged to be smart enough to pose for a professional photograph behind the wheel of the stunning gleaming white £32,000 Audi TT Roadster.

Director of Personal Development Miss Gockelen said: “We teamed up with Audi UK to organise a surprise spot-check on smartness as part of our push to continue to raise uniform standards.  It’s great that we found so many well-dressed students.”

Rebecca Myrie, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Audi UK was one of a team of people from the company assessing uniforms and handing out reward postcards entitling smart students to have their photo taken in the vehicle.

She said that Audi UK staff enjoyed being involved with the Academy: “The enthusiasm of the students and staff gives everyone a buzz.  We love the school’s can do attitude, which fits perfectly with our brand and the way we do business.”

Around 20 people from Audi UK work as mentors to Academy students and the company also supports a Year 9 literacy module and will be chauffeuring top-performing students to this year’s Prom in style.
