On Friday 14 May members of the Performing Arts department led by Mr. Phillips took Year 9 and Year 12 Creative and Media students to BBC Blast's touring studios. The BBC offer a series of events, including performances and workshops led by industry professionals from all areas of the Media sector for 13-19 year olds, completely free of charge.
Our Year 9 diploma students, along with some of our Year 12 students, opted for a day either learning how to edit movies, create electronic songs, make stop frame animation and direct film and TV. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to see how these jobs are done in the outside world by professionals and it gave them a chance to create and finish a product that they could bring away with them to show family and friends.
Mr Phillips said:"It was great to see them really getting excited and inspired with their work and their sense of accomplishment at the end. Everyone involved had a great fun. It was an informative day where the students learnt a lot which can now be put into educational practice within their diploma portfolio."
