A drab and dreary waiting room for pregnant women at Milton Keynes Hospital has been brightened by fabulous artwork created by students.
Twenty-one Year 11 Btec students from The Milton Keynes Academy worked together on designs for the bold and colourful collage which is now on permanent display in the Maternity Outpatients waiting area.
Superintendent Sonographer Veronica Gordon said: “The waiting area was not a pleasant place to sit, but this artwork has really improved it. I love it and it inspires me.”
16-year-old Ryan Ashley was one of the students who worked on the piece. He said: “It was interesting working on the project, and the final result looks better than I had imagined. It is bright, powerful and looks good.”
Artist Helen Taylor of MK Arts for Health commissioned the artwork and spent time with the young artists helping them to create designs on the theme of ‘happy and healthy’.
Helen described the finished artwork as “lovely and impactful,” and praised the teenagers for their skill and enthusiasm.
The aim of MK Arts for Health is to enhance health and healing through creativity.
