FEATURED STORY

Romeo & Juliet

Posted: 21st November 2011

A large group of students from Years 8-13 took part in the National Shakespeare in Schools Festival this year.  This event saw local schools come together to perform 30-minute Shakespeare plays in a professional theatre.  This year Milton Keynes Academy presented 'Romeo and Juliet'.  The students spent lots of after school time and even weekends to create what was a very impressive, modern take on the classic love story.  Set in a modern context and in opposing schools Romeo, played by Temmy Bamishe, and Juliet, played by Sapphire Rance, fall in love and through a series of unfortunate events, including the deaths of Mercutio played by Kyle Daley and Tybalt played by Liam Clarke, meet their untimely death.

The students were very professional and showed amazing maturity throughout the process.  They formed a company of actors and actresses which made the Performing Arts Department at Milton Keynes Academy very proud!
