FEATURED STORY

Recognising our fantastic people

Posted: 1st June 2010

Two dedicated Academy individuals have been presented with certificates after being nominated for The Teaching Awards 2010.

Literacy Champion Dee Godden was nominated in the Teaching Assistant category, while Chair of Governors Peter Mitchell was nominated in the Governor of the Year category.

Dee works with 24 Year 7 and Year 8 students who started at the Academy in September with very poor literacy skills. Just six months later the students are all able to read significantly better.

Principal Lorna Caldicott said: "Dee is one of the amazing members of the Upgrade Team, and it's been wonderful to see how she, and the other team members, have given new skills and confidence to the children. She has helped bring about real change to the standard of literacy for a number of students in a short space of time."
