Open Day Success!

September 2009

Exploding jelly babies were just one of the attractions at the Open Evening held at The Milton Keynes Academy this week.

Nearly 400 people visited the spectacular new school in Leadenhall to tour the building and watch students having lessons - including science classes where sweets sizzled and flames erupted during experiments.

The Open Evening was held for children starting secondary school in September 2010, and their families.

"The event was a great success," said Academy spokesman Caroline Raine, "We received lots of very positive comments and visitors seemed very impressed with the facilities, our new ways of teaching and the building."

Feedback from parents included praise for the school's sophisticated security system, for the high-tech biometric fingerprint method of paying for food, and for the tasty wholesome dishes available for students at lunchtimes.

Applications for Academy places this year exceeded the number of places available, and it is likely that this could happen for September 2010.

To apply for a place at the Academy parents need to complete forms in the information pack sent out by Milton Keynes Council and return this to them before 2 November 2009.
