Students from the Milton Keynes Academy recently took part in the Milton Keynes festival of the Arts. The Milton Keynes Festival of the Arts for Music, Dance, and Speech & Drama was founded in 1968 by a group of residents in Bletchley, and 43 years on it is as old as Milton Keynes itself and still attracting large numbers of performers – over 2,000 performers at the 2009 festival, 95% of which were children of school age.
The festival runs for five weeks throughout February and early March and comprises a dance, music and drama festival, all organised separately. The festival encompasses every genre of performance from comic verse to Shakespeare, musical theatre to opera, piano to percussion and ballet to song and dance with a whole lot more in between!!
Students were entered into a number of dance classes and achieved awards of honours , commendations and even a silver placing in the Contemporary quartet competition danced by Deon Mcleod, Tenita Williams, Ashleigh Rabe and Callum Swift. All students were a credit to the school and took away some valuable feedback and inspiration for their future developments in performing arts.
