All MK Academy students are encouraged to make a positive contribution to school life by helping out with a variety of groups and activities. We have over a dozen students that help to run the busy LRC. To earn the role of LRC leader, they needed to complete an application form, take a shelving test and have a short interview.
Mrs Haines and Mrs Banks, LRC staff, met with the students this week and thanked them for their commitment to the role and being reliable members of a team. They are regularly issued with VIVOS for carrying out their duties. A duty normally involves issuing and returning books at the main desk, as well as answering questions from staff and students. They shelve returned books and help with displays.
Mrs Haines said, 'We are very fortunate to have such a fantastic group of students who willingly give up their break or lunch to help in running the LRC. They have learnt new skills and many are keen readers and so can recommend books to others. We enjoy giving them the experience and we hope it helps them in their future career choices, even if they do not become librarians!'
