Helping students make the right choices

Posted: 31st May 2012

A Careers Fair took place on 27 April to help the Year 11 students who were unsure about their future path.

The event was a big success and helped many young people make important decisions about their careers.

Kola Salau said that the event had helped him: “It has been interesting talking to all the different people and I have now decided to take a two-year construction apprenticeship.”

Filip Iwaniuk added: “I haven’t been able to decide between going to sixth form or doing an apprenticeship so this has helped me a lot.”

The Careers Fair included several exhibitors from education and training providers including Moulton College in Northampton, JHP Training, Bedford College and ISIS Training.

Director of Business and Enterprise Mr Hickey said: “We are committed to making sure that all of our Year 11 students have a positive next step.  Increasing numbers are choosing Studio 6 while others opt for apprenticeships.”

After visiting the Careers Fair the students had the chance to spend time with a team of employees of Serco who helped them write CVs, complete application forms and improve interview techniques.
