Posted: 3rd July 2009

More than 40 local leading business people set sail along The Grand Union Canal to celebrate Vocational Qualifications Day on June 24.The event was organised by The Milton Keynes Academy to challenge people to look at things differently – including education.

Guests enjoyed a breakfast at The Black Horse at Great Linford and then jumped aboard a narrowboat to explore the waterways of Milton Keynes.

Academy Director of Business and Enterprise Sean Hickey said: “It was fantastic to have the support and encouragement of so many local business people.  We know that employers value vocational qualifications and realise that for students there are many paths to success.”

A special guest was Alex Glover from our sponsor Edge, the independent education foundation, which introduced national VQ Day.
