Sixteen employees from Audi UK have made a year-long commitment to mentor Academy girls.
The women have pledged to encourage, support and motivate a group of female students by spending an hour with them every fortnight over the next academic year.
The Blakelands-based Audi UK employees met some of the girls they will be mentoring at the launch of the 2011 Can Do Women project held at The Hilton hotel in Kents Hill recently.
Audi UK Corporate Responsibility Manager Rebecca Myrie said: “We got involved because we thought this would be a very good thing for our staff to be doing. I sent an email out about the project and got a flood of replies from our fantastic women keen to do it. The women are from different departments working at different levels and we aim to build a long-term relationship with the school.”
Academy Deputy Director of Business and Enterprise Miss Gockelen explained that the project was aimed at raising aspirations of teenage girls. She added: “We are enormously grateful to the women of Audi UK who have made this tremendous commitment. Their work will make a real difference.”
