A fun start to Year 7

Working out how to cross a river without getting wet was one of the challenges our new Year 7 students had to tackle recently.

Every Year 7 student was invited to take part in a special half-day team-building event at the Caldecotte Xperience at Simpson where they were given different tasks.

Activities included having to find objects using a map and working out how to cross an area using a few items without stepping on the ground.

Student Aaron Roberts said: “I’ve enjoyed doing this and have been able to get to know more people because you have to talk to them to do the tasks. “

English Teacher Mr Booker went along to the event and believed that most of the students were having lots of fun: “They are getting all sorts of things out of this. It’s a chance to get to know each other in a different environment. They are using different skills and learning to listen to each other and trust each other. They go away from this knowing that they have done things they didn’t know they could do.”
