The aims of the course are for students to gain knowledge and understanding about the human body and a variety of areas involved in and around the world of sport. They will also develop their abilities and knowledge in coaching.
Students will develop analysis and evaluation skills enabling them to work independently as well as work within a team to achieve a common goal. Students will be expected to cover a number of assignments working to strict deadlines.
Subject Skills

• Quality of written communication showing understanding of sentences and paragraphs.
• Ability to understand importance of referencing.
Course Content
The course covers aspects of knowledge, understanding and competency necessary for employment within the sports sector.

• The Body in Sport
• Sports Industry
• Psychology for sports Performance
• Nutrition
• Fitness For Sport
To gain entry to this course you are required to have 5 GCSE grades of C or above which one must include a grade C or above in GCSE PE or a Merit or above in level 2 BTEC and a C or above in English.
The course is assessed over two years. At the end of each unit there are assignments based upon the work completed in class.
This subject is taught using a variety of methods including practical sessions where required. Most of the work is classroom based which will require work from text books, computer based activities and group discussions.
PE teaching, sports coach, physiotherapist, sport psychologists, sports development officer, sports coordinator.
