Course Content
Students will investigate the media in order to understand and evaluate how meanings and responses are created. The contemporary media landscape and its changing contexts are studied in terms of products, platforms and technologies. There are two units titled Investigating Media and Creating Media.
You need at least 5 A*- C grades including GCSE English.
Half of the AS marks will be given for a two hour written examination. The remaining 50 per cent of marks will be given for coursework. This will involve two linked pieces of work and a 1,500 word evaluation.
This subject is taught using a variety of teaching methods. There will be discussions and debates in class and you get more out of this subject if you enjoy taking part.
At A2, students will be encouraged to demonstrate, develop and formulate their understanding of the media and its influential role in today\'s society as well as debating major contemporary media issues. You will study critical perspectives as well as media research and production.
