• Students will understand how ICT impacts on organisations and society in different ways such as identity cards, chip and pin, the introduction of the Freedom of Information Act and news coverage during wars.

Course Content
AS studies will consist of three elements: ICT and Society, ICT and Organisations and Data Handling.
Students will develop practical capability in applying ICT and a knowledge and understanding of ICT systems and their roles in organisations and society. They will also be able to apply knowledge, skills and understanding to produce solutions to ICT problems and be able to evaluate ICT solutions.
You need at least 5 A*- C grades including GCSE ICT or OCR National Level 2 ICT.
You will be given three interesting projects to complete:
Project 1
You will create a newsletter giving information about how ICT systems are being used to combat threats to individuals and society.You will be allowed investigation time and will then have to complete the task in 15 hours under controlled conditions.
Project 2
You will produce a software system to meet the needs of a client, and produce documentation of the work you have done. You will have investigation time, during which you will carry out analysis and design. You will then have a limit of 20 hours in controlled conditions to implement and test your software system.
Project 3
You will design and produce a reusable working spreadsheet system to meet the needs of a clearly specified client, and produce documentation of the work you have done.You will have a limit of 20 hours of controlled conditions to complete this assignment.
This subject is taught using a variety of teaching methods. There is a lot of emphasis on practical work.
Students will build on AS work and focus on project management and advanced spreadsheet design, plus either publishing or interactive multimedia.
Network administrator, help desk operator, programmer, website designer and systems analysts.
